Please extend my best wishes and love to Myra. I knew her when she was the Director of the   Office of Federal Contract Compliance in San Francisco. She did a tremendous job with inadequate resources. She taught many of us well.  She would work with contractors and their representatives and put in far  more hours than anyone else I have seen in her position.  Although her position was managerial she did a yeoman's job of helping all of us.

She lived a very cosmopolitan and full life.  Her stories about her life were enriching and thought provoking.

I consider her a "friend lost." I  hope she is doing well and she is in my prayers.

I well remember Sister M. Charlesita as my fifth- and seventh-grade teacher at St. Jerome's school in Chicago. She had a serenity and kindness about her, and as far as I know, never played favorites with the kids in those impossibly-large classrooms. Given the fact that she was only a dozen or so years older than her students, she did a remarkable job. I had no knowledge of her life after Jerome's, but she seems to have done well wherever she went.
Those years were hard for kids in many ways, but I remember feeling relieved whenever I was in her classroom. There was peace there. (And of course, from what we could see of her, she was exceptionally beautiful.)

I was also a journalism student and was the Art Editor of our school newspaper. If I remember correctly (and that is pretty much always questionable) St. Mary's had abandoned the school newspaper for some years. Our class wanted to bring it back and Sr. Charlesita was our vital advocate in that regard. Working with her and learning from her was a joy. I remember her as a kind and patient teacher; a true educator. Our class of '67 had more than its share of strong personalities and Sr. Charlesita embraced all of us. I am glad to know she is still here and still smiling. Thank you for caring about and for her. If there is anything I can do for either of you, please don't hesitate to let me know.

Kathy (Sheehan) Kovarik, Class of 1967
